commission
An interactive audiovisual installation with sculptor Jacopo Mandich, in three rooms of Sogimi Studio at Superstudio, Milan Design Week 2026.
Sogimi Holding and the gallery Raffaella De Chirico Arte Contemporanea brought the two practices together for Milan Design Week 2026. The brief: take the sculpture from something you contemplate to something that answers.
When the body becomes sound, and sound becomes vision.
A dormant flow of particles drifts across the LED wall: a slow, minimal breath. When a visitor approaches Mandich’s Nuvola Quantica, the flow wakes. Presence becomes a visual gesture, and sound passes through the iron. The observer cannot help but alter what they observe.
Three rooms, one organism.

The interactive heart
Central room
Mandich’s Nuvola Quantica sits dormant in half-light. A gesture toward its iron modules wakes their timbres, and the sleeping particle field on the 3×2 m LED wall answers in real time.

The unconscious
Side room
The descent continues into the dark, toward Mandich’s Sciacalli (Jackals), wrapped in a low, breathing soundscape that seems to come from the iron itself.

The return
Last room
Back into the light: the material returns to contemplation, a threshold between the work and the encounter.
SonicNebula
The granular sound engine Eric Oder built for the piece. Every sample is a point of light; the visitor’s body moves through them.
We don’t play sounds: we navigate them. The gesture doesn’t press a key, it crosses a constellation.
