Co-production and mixing for “Blank Canvasses” (2025), the debut album of the Rome-based project Methodologist, opened by the single “Dizziness”.
Methodologist is a solo project based in Rome that sets pop music and its archetypal song structures against a broad, experimental sonic palette. The work on “Blank Canvasses”: co-production and mix of seven of its eight songs, the mix shared with Methodologist, and piano on “Fisherman’s Blues”. The collaboration had begun with piano and strings on the 2023 single “a Friend is a Fiend”.
This monster crawled out of your hands
“Blank Canvasses” was recorded in Rome, Amsterdam and Berlin between 2019 and 2021, with drums by Pietro Lanza and bass by Mattia Micalich on “Fisherman’s Blues”. “Dizziness”, the opening track and first single, was written in one sitting on a summer night, 9 June 2019, on a walk home. The songs hold on to the archetypal structures of pop, while the sound around them reaches into a broad, experimental palette. The single came out on 26 September 2025, the album on 3 October 2025.
