“Focus” is a soundscape composition built entirely from sounds of a first-model Ford Focus, written in the first year of electronic music studies at the “Santa Cecilia” conservatory.
A first-year piece for the electronic music course at the conservatory of music “Santa Cecilia”. The source material was a single object: a first model of Ford Focus.
02 — The musicComposer
The samples were recorded with a Zoom H1 and processed in Max/MSP. Audio stretching and granulation turn the car into sound textures, layered into an imaginary panorama where the listener is caught between the concrete and the electronic. The piece moves through wide dynamic swings, and recurring sound hooks suggest a pulse that marks where each section begins and ends.
